BATAVIA air maiden flight Jakarta to MERAUKE

Batavia Air has launch a maiden flights from Jakarta to Merauke via Makassar and Jayapura (return), on Sunday (01/16/2011), with Boeing 737-300 aircraft numbered Y6-837 flight.

The aircraft departed from Jakarta at 22:45 pm (Western Indonesia Standard Time) and landed at Mopah Airport in Merauke at 08:55 (Easter Indonesia Standard Time) after a transit in Makassar and Jayapura. While flights from Merauke to Jakarta, leaving at 9:30 (Eastern Indonesia Standard Time) and arrive in Jakarta at 15.30 pm (Western Indonesia Standard Time). Flight routes from Jakarta to Merauke (return) will be operated every day.

"We see great development in eastern Indonesia in the field of economy. With supported by adequate transportation, we hope this development will continue to affect progress in other sectors. With the entry into Merauke, Batavia Air have connecting ranging from Sabang (Banda Aceh) to Merauke, "said President of Batavia Air Yudiawan Tansari.

Maiden flight to Merauke led by Batavia Air Operations Director Capt. Noer Effendi by bringing a group from Batavia Air. The delegation was greeted by government officials in the Merauke district.

Batavia Air currently operates more than 170 flights per day and serving 41 destinations in Indonesia and 6 international destinations, namely Jeddah and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Guangzhou (China), Kuching (Malaysia), Singapore, and the latest Dili (Timor - Leste). Batavia Air has a fleet of 37 aircraft consisting of Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-400, Airbus A-319, Airbus A-320, and Airbus A330.

Batavia Air FIRST flight to Dili, Timor Leste

On December 27, 2010 Batavia Air conducts the first flight from Denpasar, Bali to Dili, Timor Leste (return) by using Airbus A320-811 with flights number Y6-811

The aircraft departed from Denpasar at 07:00 LT and landed at the Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport at 09:40 LT. While the flight from Dili to Denpasar departed at 10:25 LT. Direct Flights Denpasar – Dili will be operated every day.

"With the entry of Batavia Air to Dili, the Timorese people have an alternate transportation to travel to Denpasar, Bali and other cities in Indonesia. Now, Dili has been connected with 40 cities in Indonesia that have been serving by Batavia Air," said Batavia Air President Director Yudiawan Tansari.

In addition, he continued, transport goods and cargo from Dili to the cities in Indonesia and vice versa become more fluent. "And of course we hope for the tourism potential that is here much more widely known by the people of Indonesia," he added.

Inaugural flight to Dili, led by Capt. Pilot Noer Effendi with a group of officials from Batavia Air, Director General of Civil Aviation as well as officials from the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Batavia Air plans to open a new route from Denpasar to Perth in November 2010. According to President Director of Batavia Air, Yudiawan Tansari, currently they are waiting for the certainty of the Ministry of Transportation Directorate General of Civil Aviation relating to permit flights.

"On November we will be ready to fly to Australia. We are currently awaiting permission from the government. Up to now divide of the rations 4000 additional seats airline flights to Australia for those interested from government unfinished yet. " Yudiawan Tansari said in Jakarta on Tuesday (14 / 9).

To accommodate the new flight route, Batavia Air will operate Airbus A320 with a capacity of 180 seats. The flight will be one times every day. Batavia Air needs around 1260 seats each week.

However, these seats is greater than the needs of Garuda Indonesia Airlines and Air Asia plans to increase frequency. Garuda Indonesia Airlines plans to increase frequency of flights to Jakarta-Sydney as many as 666 seats and the Jakarta-Melbourne as many as 444 by operating Airbus A330-200 with a capacity of 222 seats.As for Air Asia requires 720 seats to the route Denpasar - Darwin that have been operated with an Airbus A320 carrying 180 passengers helpless.

Yudiawan said, if the Denpasar - Perth route get permission from the government, next year it will also re-opened two new routes to Austrlia, such as the route Denpasar – Melbourne and Denpasar – Sydney.

Batavia Air will make maiden flight to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday (May 23, 2010), using wide-body aircraft, Airbus A330-200. The delegation of this maiden flight will depart at 10:00 am from Terminal 2D Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta. The flight will estimate landed at 16:45 local time at the King Abdul Aziz International Airport Jeddah. Batavia Air will fly nonstop from Jakarta-Jeddah-Jakarta everyday and Jakarta-Jeddah-Riyadh twice a week every Monday and Wednesday.

"The flight to the holy land of Muslims is a serious effort in Batavia Air to expand internationally. The aim of our market share was the Muslims to worship 'Umrah and the workers who will work in Saudi Arabia. Batavia Air is planning to add the regional and international routes to face the open-sky policy which starting in 2015. "Networking should be build up as widely as possible because the outside competitor would come in," said Commerce Director of PT Metro Batavia, Hasudungan Pandiangan.

The flight routes are to Perth (Australia), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Bangkok (Thailand), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea), Dili (Timor Leste), Tokyo (Japan), Hong Kong, Seoul ( South Korea), Dubai (UAE) and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). "The nearest route to open is to Dili via Denpasar, and also to Jeddah. Jeddah route is planning to open on May 5," he said.

Hasudungan optimistic that Batavia Air is able to face the competition in the year 2015, since they begin the operation eight years ago, has a rapid growth. "Formerly, Batavia Air only have four planes," he said. To expand their market, Batavia Air also targeting as a national airline company to revoke the ban permission by the European Union. One of the effort is no longer using Boeing 737 series 200. "Now there are two fleets left," Hasudungan said.

Batavia Air is also committed to improving the delays that are still frequently occur. Batavia Air has flight frequency as much as 175 times per day to 38 regional routes and three international routes, namely Singapore, Kuching and Guangzhou. For the year 2010, Batavia Air has target to served the passengers around 7.8 million people, increase from the realization in 2009 as many as 6.5 million passengers.

Two airlines companies are reluctant to shift to Terminal 1C

Two airlines companies which placed in Terminal 1A Soekarno-Hatta International Airport are reluctant to shift to Terminal 1C. They even admitted not knowing the shift instruction flight activity center officially. Lion Air General Director Edward Sirait not know the concept of the transfer. So far, negotiations are still limited to plan an informal conversation. "Officially, we just do not know," he said in Jakarta. Therefore, he considered the proposed transfer of carriers into the new terminal through the revitalization of Rp20 billion it should be designed with a clear order not to cause new problems."If it was offered right concept we are ready to move," he said.

However, he argued, if Lion Air is required to break the flight activity at the two terminals, PT Angkasa Pura II should provide compensation. Because the activity in the two terminals will increase operational costs. "We did not refuse. But if we're in a two-terminal, would increase costs because we have to add new workers. Not to mention the other extra for wearing the two places. So, it seems there must be compensation," Edward Sirait explained.

Public Relations Manager of Batavia Air, Eddy Haryanto said, moving to Terminal 1C is still considered as a discourse for the national carrier. The two airlines is planned to be shifted to Terminal 1C in March 2010. Flight Frequency to Jeddah 35 times per week

Currently the frequency of flights from Indonesia to Saudi Arabia, especially King Abdul Aziz Airport, Jeddah  already 35 times per week to anticipate the demand of passengers.
"We propose to added the frequency of flight. Before only 21 times per week. As was approved now become 35 times per week to Jeddah," said Director General of Civil Aviation Ministry of Transport Herry Bhakti S Gumay, in Jakarta.
Herry explained, the regulator always facilitate the airline company request who want to fly and add flights to other countries, including international routes to Jeddah.
"Of the total permits, the regulator share the service, among others airline companies. Now Lion Air has allocated five times per week, Garuda Indonesia 11 times and Batavia Air has three times per week," he said.
However, the interest in this international routes are still the three airlines companies Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air and Batavia Air.
Herry also said that other international routes in the Middle East, is currently rampant growth as shown much of the region's airlines are flying to Indonesia.
"If they fly over here, in fact, Indonesian airlines may also fly there. This is the principle of reciprocal," he said.
Some airlines already flying to Indonesia such as Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways and other airlines from Dubai and other cities such as Abu Dhabi.
