Lion Air serve Jakarta-Jeddah Route

Lion Air will serve the new route from Jakarta, Indonesia to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia starting the next 7 November 2009, using two Boeing 747-400 aircraft with the registration PK-PK-LHF and LHG capacity of 506 seats.

"At present, two planes were already in Terminal IA International Airport Soekarno-Hatta," said Lion Air General Director, Edward Sirait, Friday (16/10) in Jakarta.

Scheduled international flights (regular flight) from Jakarta to Jeddah was a first long distance flight routes of Lion Air, the transit time around 9 hours 30 minutes. Permit flights (landing permit) from Saudi Arabia as much as 7 times a week (daily flight). However, for a while, Lion Air will serve the frequency of flights to Jeddah two times a week only until the end of this year, considering the tight of flight slot time during the Hajj month. Next year, this route will be served seven times a week.

The Lion Air flight schedule of JT 110 will left at 07.30 (local time) from Jakarta, arrived in Jeddah at 13:00 (local time). The next flight JT 111 leaving from Jeddah at 14:45 (local time) and arrive in Jakarta at 04.15 (local time) the following day.

Regular flights from Jakarta to Jeddah is expected to increase market share of national airlines international routes, especially the Middle East market. Consumer market to the Middle East consists of business people, spiritual journey (Umrah) and labor. Jakarta-Jeddah flight can be connected with the domestic routes (via Jakarta) to facilitate the travel of the passengers originating from these cities or vice versa.
