Singapore Airlines (SQ) will Buy 50 New Aircraft

Singapore Airlines (SQ) will buy 50 new aircraft to support flight operations of all of their route serves. Public Relations Manager of Singapore Airline (SIA) Gloria Henriette said the ordered aircrafts is consisting of eight units of Airbus A380-800, two units of Airbus A330-300, 20 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, and 20 units of Airbus A350-900 XWb.

Gloria explains, for A380 and A330 are already produced commercially can begin to be sent in stages starting next year. However, for the B787 and A350, both of a new aircraft which are still prepared by manufacturer for commercial sale. Thus, the delivery depends on the readiness of Boeing and Airbus. "But from now we already ordered. Later, all aircraft will be purchased. Singapore Airlines (SQ) has enough financial to buy it," said Glory, Wednesday (10/27/2010).

If Singapore Airlines (SIA) use the option to pay cash for all aircraft ordered, they surely must prepare a lot of money. The Airbus A380 have a price per unit of USD 317.2 million to USD 337.5 million. As for the A330 at USD 195.9 to USD 205.7 million per unit. While the A350 XWB at USD 238.2 million to USD 242.9 million per unit and  B787-9 sell at USD 194 million to USD 205.5 million per unit.

"Singapore Airlines (SQ) has a policy if an aircraft has been operated for five years it will be handed over to its subsidiary, Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE) for lease to other airlines. Along with the arrival of new aircraft," Gloria explained.

Today's the Singapore-based airline already operates 105 aircraft, comprising 11 of A380-800, 5 of A340-500, 17 of A330-300, 7 of B747-400, 19 of B777-300ER, 12 of B777-300, 9 of B777-200ER, and 25 of B777-200 with an average aircraft age of 5 years 11 months. As for cargo aircraft, Singapore Airlines (SIA) operates 11 of B747-400 Freighter.


Singapore Airlines (SQ) flights to 17 countries around the world, namely Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brunei, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Kuwait, Malaysia, and Indonesia. For Indonesia, the SIA has a flight from Singapore to Denpasar 21 times per week, and Singapore-Jakarta, 49 times per week.

Indonesian Exports increase 9.76 per cent

The Indonesian exports increase 9.76 per cent in August 2010 with value reached US$ 13.71 billion, compare to the exports in July 2010. If compared to exports on August 2009 is increasing of 29.99 percent.

Non-oil/non-gas exports on August 2010 has reached US$ 11.77 billion, rose 10.94 percent compared to July 2010, whereas compared to August 2009 exports increased by 32.35 percent.

The cumulative value of Indonesian exports from January to August 2010 reached US$ 98.71 billion, an increase 40.42 percent over the same period in 2009, while non-oil exports reach US$ 81.73 billion, an increase of 36.25 percent.
The largest increasing of non-oil exports in August 2010 is coming from animal fats & oils / vegetable at US$ 1.1 billion, while the largest decline occurred in the ore, scale, and ash for metals at US$ 80.0 million.

Non-oil exports to Japan in August 2010 is the largest number of US$ 1.40 billion, followed by China US$ 1.24 billion and the United States US$ 1.14 billion, with the contribution of all three reached 32.17 percent. While exports to the European Union (27 countries) around US$ 1.62 billion.

By sector, industrial product exports from January-August 2010 rose by 34.66 percent compared to same period of 2009, as well as exports of agricultural products rose 15.84 percent and exports other mining products rose 47.35 percent.

Garuda Indonesia awarded Airline Turnaround of the Year

Garuda Indonesia awarded the Airline Turnaround of the Year in the event of Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation Award. This award was obtained by Garuda Indonesia as the airline which able to improve their self.

The award was given directly to the President and CEO of Garuda Indonesia Ermirsyah Satar by Paul Avery, Regional Director, Asia Pacific Retail Decision in Singapore, Wednesday (10/20/2010).

The purpose of this award is a tribute to the airline that is able to improve themselves from which does not mean a thing into something meaningful.
Besides Garuda Indonesia, there are 8 other companies which on the airline business and get award.

For the category of Aviation Minister of the Year won by Sumio Mabuchi, Transport Minister of Japan. Airport of the Year won by Airports of Thailand. Region Airline of the Year award won by Regional Express (REX). LCC of the year is Tiger Airways, Cargo Airline of the Year is Cathay Pacific. Airline of the Yeard is Emirates Airlines, Aviatiation Executive of The Year won by the CEO of Air New Zealand, Rob Fyfe, while CAPA Legends Award presented to Brett Godfrey.

Emirsyah Satar expressed the appreciation of the  Airline Turnaround of the Year award as effort of the hard work of all employees of Garuda Indonesia. "Teamwork, I could not get this award without the other. One team, one spirit, one goals," he said after getting the award.

AirAsia has reached 100 million passengers

AirAsia has reached their target to  transport 100 million passengers to various countries. The target was reached within a period of 8.5 years.

The announcement of the 100 million passengers was held in Ecoba Restaurant, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Wednesday (13/10). Passengers to-100 million won by Irma Dewi (23) from Indonesia. She is entitled to have 100 AirAsia free tickets to all routes with lifetime validity period.

"Initially we only dreamed of creating a cheap flight so that everyone can fly anywhere. Now that dream come true, our passengers have reached 100 million people, "said CEO Group of AirAsia Group, Tony Fernandes in announcing the passengers to-100 million.

In 2013, Tony said, the target is 200 million passengers. AirAsia currently operates in 139 routes with a around 1,000 pilots, assisted by about 7,000 staffs. "The first time when we operate, we had only two aircrafts and 200 staffs. There are many routes that should we open due to a big potential, "he said.

According to CEO AirAsia Indonesia, Dharmadi, AirAsia is now focusing on international routes because of domestic airlines have taken over by the other airline company. After developing international routes from Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Bali, AirAsia will focus on Makassar. Passengers from Indonesia around 330,000 per month. Until the end of September recorded 2.8 million passenger from the target of 4 million passengers.

Garuda Indonesia needs special terminal

The airline company which has the second largest number of passengers in Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia, needs a special terminal at the terminal of Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta), Jakarta. The terminal is to anticipate the development of the airline business is expected to increase almost doubled in 2014 later.

In the year 2009, the total number of passengers carried by Garuda Indonesia more than 10 million people.

According to President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Emirsah Sattar, currently Garuda Indonesia already operates 74 aircrafts and by 2014 its fleet will increase to 116 units. Garuda Indonesia also has selected Jakarta as a base of operations. "We need a dedicated terminal for us," said the Emir in Jakarta. Nevertheless he was evasive that Garuda Indonesia is also required to participate to build its own terminal at the Soekarno Hatta airport. "Too much for it," said Emir.

For time being, Garuda Indonesia has formed a team to advise the Board of Directors. Angkasa Pura II as the organizer of Soekarno-Hatta airport.

As is known, PT. Angkasa Pura II will create a grand new design for the Soekarno Hatta airport. Grand design is expected to be completed later this year and will be implemented next year. Indonesia Minister of State Owned Entreprises, Mustafa Abubakar also have to allow private parties to participate in developing and managing Soekarno Hatta airport. Some news said, Schipol airport management (Netherland), Changi airport management (Singapore) and the airline Air Asia Group is interested in developing the biggest airports in Indonesia.

Garuda Indonesia: Osaka-Denpasar 7 times a week

To meet increasing market demand and in terms of improving service to their customer, starting on Thursday (07/10/2010), Garuda Indonesia has added frequencies of Osaka-Denpasar flight route (return) from the previous 5 times a week to 7 times a week.

Garuda Indonesia flights Denpasar-Osaka scheduled every day, departure from Denpasar (GA 882) at 0:55 pm and arrives in Osaka at 08.30 local time.

The plane departed again from Osaka (GA 883) at 11.00 local time and arriving in Denpasar at 17:15 pm. This flight using Airbus A330-300 aircraft with 257 seat capacity of 42 business-class and 215 economy class.

"The addition of Denpasar-Osaka flight frequency from five times to seven times a week is a Garuda Indonesia effort to meet the increasing of market demand as the continued growth of traffic between the two cities and to provide convenience for customer," said Garuda Indonesia VP Corporate Communications.

Osaka-Denpasar equipped by Garuda Indonesia Experience service, a unique service that combines the uniqueness of Indonesia in all flight services, from pre service, in, and post-flight.

In this flight, passengers will be served by cabin crew from Japan who is ready to assist the passengers in the ease of communication or need assistance during the flight.

In addition, the airline also offers on-board the Immigration Service. Through this service, passengers can comfortably managing the immigration document granting a visa on arrival on the plane so that the passengers do not need to queue at the immigration desk on arrival.

Today, besides serving the Osaka-Denpasar flight route, Garuda Indonesia also serve other cities in Japan, the Nagoya-Denpasar, 3 times a week, Tokyo-Denpasar 7 times a week, and Tokyo-Jakarta 7 times a week.
