Sriwijaya Airline Buy 10 Boeings aircraft

Despite the economic crisis engulf the world, one of Indonesia local airline Sriwijaya Air will add as many as 10 Boeing aircraft until the end of April 2009.

Sriwijaya Air President Director Chandra Lie explain to journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/11), in addition to serving routes to overseas, some of these new aircraft will also serve  the eastern-route of Indonesia.

"These 10 Boeing aircraft is year 2000 above production in 2000 with 737-300, 737-400, and 737-700 series and will serve the new route to Bangkok, Singapore, and Madras. The a new route will begin to serve Jakarta-Singapore flight, on Dec 18 2008, "said Chandra.

He said that Indonesia's eastern route will also be served this new aircraft in April 2009 and all aircraft are already in Jakarta. "The funds used to purchase 10 aircraft is from the company's own internal funds," said Chandra refusing to mention the amount of funds.

"For time being we have not trusted from the bank yet, so the funds is from our own internal," he said. With this additional new aircraft, Chandra target number of passengers will reach 4,5-4,8 million people until the end of the year.
